Pupillage

Allen & Gledhill can only be as good as the people we recruit and train. Therefore, we are totally committed to the recruitment, training and professional development of our pupils. Once selected for pupillage, we hope the experience will be an enlightening and rewarding one for you. An essential part of our training and development programme is the assignment of each pupil to a senior mentor in the firm for guidance and supervision. This way, you are exposed to and will be actively involved in legal work of your chosen specialisation. We also run a comprehensive in-house training programme where pupils are introduced to the variety of work undertaken by the firm.

Pupillage isn't just about work, you'll be glad to hear! There are regular social events and trips so our pupils can get together in an informal environment either to meet partners and lawyers, or to interact amongst themselves. Weekly teas are organised so partners, lawyers and pupils get a chance to mingle and meet members of other departments within the firm. For pupils only events, we appoint a number of junior lawyers and pupils to an informal committee which is responsible for selecting and organising regular social get-togethers just for the pupils.

After Pupillage

Every pupil is recruited with a view to long term retention by the firm. Therefore, every pupil who works hard and gives of their best can expect to be invited to remain with us on their admission to the profession.

Of course, completing your pupillage is just the beginning. If you choose to remain with the firm after admission, you can expect the training to continue throughout the rest of your career with us. All our lawyers attend courses and take part in further training on a regular basis so as to develop and improve their legal skills. The legal world is ever changing and successful lawyers keep pace with it.

The establishment of our new joint law venture, Linklaters Allen & Gledhill, also means that there are real opportunities for young lawyers to be seconded to one of Linklaters' offices around the world. Several of our lawyers are already on secondment at Linklaters' offices in London and Hong Kong, thus enabling them to gain increased exposure to international work and other jurisdictions.

We pride ourselves on our camaraderie and many of our lawyers see each other as friends rather than colleagues. As a firm, we organise regular social events. Apart from regular departmental gatherings and the annual Christmas lunch, there are firmwide trips, inter-departmental bowling competitions as well as intra-firm badminton and football matches.
