NUS JY Pillay Global-Asia Programme

In our Firm’s effort to support quality education, we have pledged S$100,000 to the National University of Singapore (NUS) JY Pillay Global-Asia Programme Yale-NUS College. This programme, a landmark collaboration between Yale University and NUS, supports the establishment of two Distinguished Professorships, a Fellowship and a Bursary, all named after NUS founding chairman, Professor JY Pillay. Besides supporting financially needy students, the programme aims to fund cutting-edge research and first-class education.

Race Against Cancer

Race Against Cancer was held on Sunday 10 July 2011 at Angsana Green, East Coast Park. As part of our Firm's CSR initiative, we sent more than 40 runners from our Firm to participate in the 10km and 15km competition runs, along with an outright donation towards this event. The aim of the race was to raise funds for various programmes such as cancer treatment subsidy, hospice home care, welfare assistance for needy cancer patients, free cancer screenings and public education initiatives.

World Environment Day

On 5 June 2011, people around the globe celebrated the annual World Environment Day, the biggest and most widely celebrated day for positive environmental action. In support of the UN International Year of Forests initiative, this year's theme is Forests: Nature at Your Service. To demonstrate our support, our Firm held several activities. Everyone was encouraged to come to the office dressed in autumnal colours of leaves (hues of green, brown, gold, red, orange and yellow) and received apples from our fruit trolleys. We also held a Champion of the Environment Competition, where staff members were encouraged to submit green ideas for the home and office.

Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund-Raising

On 11 March 2011, Japan was struck by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, the most powerful in the country's history, and a massive tsunami which left a trail of destruction. This natural disaster was soon followed by a serious nuclear power plant crisis. Seeing the heartrending images of suffering victims splashed across all news medium, our people were galvanised to do their part for our friends and clients in Japan. We organised a Firm-wide appeal for donations towards the Singapore Red Cross's Japan Disaster 2011 fund and raised S$75,000 (including dollar for dollar matching).
