Cheng Hock was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in May 1996 and is an Attorney and Counselor at Law of New York State.
He graduated as the top law student in 1995 from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree (First Class) and was awarded several academic prizes. He was a member of the NUS team that emerged as world champions in the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 1994. He was also awarded the inaugural Singapore Academy of Law Scholarship to study at Yale Law School where he obtained an LLM in 1998.
Cheng Hock completed his pupillage at Allen & Gledhill in 1996 and finished at the top of the Postgraduate Practical Law Course. Between 1996 and 1997, he was a Justices’ Law Clerk in the Supreme Court of Singapore. He then practised at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York from 1998 until 1999 before returning to Allen & Gledhill. He became a Partner of the Firm in 2000.
Cheng Hock is recommended for his expertise in commercial litigation and dispute resolution in several leading publications, including The Asia Pacific Legal 500, Chambers Global and Who’s Who Legal Singapore. In January 2009, Cheng Hock became one of the youngest lawyers to be appointed a Senior Counsel.
