Cara Chan is a Partner in Financial Services. Her practice covers debt capital markets, derivatives and structured finance.
Cara has advised on structured debt programme establishments and issuances. She has been at the forefront of the development of the retail debt market in Singapore. Cara has also advised major financial institutions and corporates on derivatives documentation, related regulatory issues and structured finance transactions.
Some of her past transactions include advising Singapore Airlines on the first retail bond offering by a listed company in Singapore, advising DBS Bank Ltd. on a retail bond offering by CapitaMalls Asia Treasury Limited, advising JPMorgan on the Singapore establishment of the JPMorgan Structured Products Programme for retail structured note issuances and advising Standard Chartered Bank on a managed cashflow CDO of approximately S$500 million arranged by Standard Chartered Bank which was the first Singapore dollar cashflow CDO governed under Singapore law.
An LLB (Hons) degree graduate of University College London, Cara joined Allen & Gledhill in 2000. In 2003, Cara joined the Tokyo office of Linklaters, Allen & Gledhill's joint law venture partner. Upon her return from Japan, Cara rejoined Allen & Gledhill in 2007. In addition to having been called to the Singapore Bar, Cara has been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.
