Sharmini Chitran is a Partner in Corporate & Commercial. Her areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions (both by way of the acquisition of shares and the acquisition of businesses), local joint ventures and regional joint ventures, schemes of reconstruction and amalgamation, corporate administration and general corporate advice to companies across a spectrum of industries. She also advises on employment law matters.

Her transaction experience includes:

 

advising multinationals in the publishing and information industry on their mergers and acquisitions in Singapore and the Asean region;

advising a major US multinational on its acquisition of a plastics additives manufacturing business;

advising on the Singapore legal issues and joint venture documentation for the establishment of a credit bureau in Singapore;

advising a major multinational corporation engaged in the consumer products business on the reconstruction of its regional operations;

advising multinational corporations in the pharmaceutical industry on the reconstruction and rationalisation of their Singapore operations;

advising a multinational corporation in the credit information business on the Singapore legal issues and joint venture documentation relating to joint venture operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Middle East and South East Asia; and

advising a major multinational corporation in the water treatment industry on its restructuring operations in Singapore and the Asean region.

Sharmini graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree and is called to the Singapore Bar.
