Daena Goh is a Partner in Corporate & Commercial and her practice encompasses advising on intellectual property and information technology transactions, covering a diverse range of commercial agreements related to exploitation of IP and IT such as licences, assignments and novation of copyright, trade marks, patents and registered designs etc, franchising and distributorship agreements, research and development, media, sports and events, branding and sponsorship agreements, outsourcing arrangements, system turnkey, software licensing, website development/hosting agreements, content disclaimers and website privacy statements.

Some of her significant transactions include:

 

GIC Real Estate Pte Ltd (GIC RE), the real estate investment arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, in respect of intellectual property rights exploitation and software licensing issues relating to GIC RE’s acquisition of all of ProLogis' property fund interests in Japan and China operations for a total cash consideration of US$1.3 billion;

Singapore Tourism Board in connection with two world class events, the Formula One Grand Prix and the Volvo Ocean Race. The project included drafting and negotiating contracts in connection with the Singapore Tourism Board’s support and sponsorship of local race promoters to facilitate the successful implementation of the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix (the first Formula One night race in the world), and the Volvo Ocean Race (Singapore Stopover);

Singapore Exchange Ltd in their collaboration with the FTSE Group and the Singapore Press Holdings, to develop and re-launch a new Straits Times Index (STI) as the Singapore stock market’s main benchmark and to create a suite of new FTSE ST indices that complemented the new STI for trading and benchmarking financial products;

a leading international hotel-chain operator, in their co-branding and collaboration agreement, which includes trade mark licensing, protection, warranty and indemnity coverage, in its collaboration with a major internationally well-known US organisation for golf resorts, products and services;

a variety of corporations including Kinokuniya, Way OnNet Group, Pret A Manger, Singapore Zoological Gardens, in their franchising, licensing, distributorship and exploitation of their intellectual property, products and services;

vendors/service providers of systems, solutions and software products, including Hewlett Packard among others, in their distribution, reseller and licensing agreements; and

Central Provident Fund Board in a tender exercise for disaster recovery centres and services including the migration, implementation, acceptance testing and maintenance of disaster recovery centres.

Daena graduated from the University of Bristol with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2000 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2002.
