Nand Singh Gandhi is a Partner of the Firm’s Tax Practice Group. He specialises in appeals and objections on tax issues for major corporations and financial institutions, as well as tax advice and structuring in relation to cross-border investments.
Nand was previously the sole practitioner at Nand Singh Gandhi & Co, Singapore and a consultant with Freehills, Australia. He has practised tax law for over 33 years, beginning his career with the Inland Revenue Department of Singapore before joining another leading law firm in Singapore in 1983 as a Partner to establish and head the revenue practice.
Nand graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1974 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1977 after spending three years in the government legal service. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and of the High Court of Australia in 1992.
Nand has been cited in World Tax (2005 and 2006)), compiled by the International Tax Review, as a Leading Individual for Singapore in the area of tax controversy. He is also listed in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers 2006 as a leading lawyer in corporate tax in Singapore and the PLC Cross-border Tax on Corporate Transactions Handbook (2006/2007) as a highly recommended tax lawyer.
He is recommended as a leading Corporate Tax lawyer in Who's Who Legal Singapore (2008), which notes that he “is a ‘big name’ and ‘well known’ in the market.”
