Harold holds a B Soc Sci (Hons) degree in economics from the National University of Singapore and a LLB (Hons) degree from the University of London. He qualified as a Barrister-at-Law at Inner Temple, United Kingdom in 1993 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1994.
Chambers Asia (2008) notes that Harold is "helpful and ever-accessible". He is cited in Chambers Global (2007) for "gaining a reputation among clients for his effective ship finance advice to banks and shipowners". Who's Who Legal Singapore (2008) notes that "Harold comes recommended for his 'outstanding' non-contentious work, acting for banks and shipowners", and notes that "his transactional, charterparties and shipbuilding contract work was highly praised".
Harold was the inaugural adjunct lecturer on ship financing at the Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore. He has written or co-written an article on the legal aspects of ship financing in the Business Times; a report on ship registration and mortgage in Singapore which was published in Shipping Finance (by Euromoney); and Chapter 4 (Ships) in Halsbury's Laws of Singapore Vol 17(2) on Shipping, 2006 Edn.
