Kenny Yap co-heads the International Trade Practice Group and is a member of the Maritime & Aviation and Insurance Practice Groups. Kenny is recommended for Shipping by The Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2004/2005).

Kenny’s main area of practice is international trade and shipping covering both contentious as well as non-contentious work.

On the contentious side, Kenny has acted on a wide variety of disputes, including customs and letters of credit disputes, cargo claims, bunker and repair claims, mortgage enforcement, charterparty disputes, maritime fraud claims, death and personal injury claims, shipping casualty matters, insurance and insolvency. On the non-contentious side, Kenny's experience encompasses advising on sale of goods contracts, contracts of affreightment, bills of lading, chartering contracts, leasing contracts, logistics contracts, shipbuilding contracts, repair and conversion contracts, contracts for the supply and installation of marine equipment, warehousing contracts, freight forwarding contracts, agency contracts and various other shipping contracts.

Kenny is a member of the Singapore Shipping Association's Legal and Insurance Committee. He is also a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Maritime Law Association of Singapore.

Kenny graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons) degree in Law and an LLM. He qualified as a Barrister-at-Law at Middle Temple. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1993, when he joined Allen & Gledhill. He became a Partner in 2000.
