Tan Su May is a Partner in Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions. Her area of expertise encompasses mergers and acquisitions (both by way of share acquisition and business acquisition), direct investments, local and regional joint ventures and corporate administration. She also advises on employment law and general corporate issues.

Transactions which she has worked on include:

 

acquisition by Credit Suisse of a partnership interest in Unicos Partners, LLP, a limited liability partnership in Singapore involved in the asset management business;

investment by EDB Investments in (i) Net Leader Holdings, a company with interests in the media business in the PRC; and (ii) ScanScout Inc, a US company in the media industry;

acting for a group of 20 vendors in the sale of Ausmore Pte Ltd, the owner of the Australian International School of Singapore;

acting in the disposal of three medical specialist groups in Singapore for a combined consideration of S$120 million;

acting in the establishment of and US$500 million investment in The Islamic Bank of Asia Limited, Singapore’s first Islamic full bank;

acting for Hin Leong Trading (Pte) Ltd in the establishment of Universal Terminal, one of the world’s largest independent petroleum tankage terminals, in venture with PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte Ltd;

acting for a Singapore consortium (comprising Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited and EDB Investments Pte Ltd) in an investment in Rolls Royce Fuel Cells Systems Ltd, a UK company engaged in the research and development of fuel cells, in joint venture with Rolls Royce plc; and

acting for Lucasfilm Ltd in its joint venture in Singapore with a consortium for the establishment of Lucasfilm Animation Singapore Pte Ltd, a Singapore company engaged in the production of animated film and television works and video games.

 

Su May graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree. She has been a Partner in Allen & Gledhill LLP since 1995. She has been cited as a leading legal practitioner for investment funds in Singapore by Chambers Asia (2008 and 2009), and has been recommended for her expertise in life sciences by various legal publications including PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook (2007 to 2009) and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers (2009). The Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2009/2010) notes Su May for her ‘responsiveness and value-added advice’.
