Tan Wee Meng is a Partner in Corporate & Commercial and a member of the Firm's Telecommunications, Energy and Infrastructure Group as well as the Technology, Licensing & Media Group.
Wee Meng has assisted international and regional telecommunications operators with establishing their operations in Singapore, including facilities-based operations comprising privately and consortium owned submarine cables as well as services-based operations ranging from IPLCs to VAN services. Wee Meng also advises on a range of regulatory and competition issues in the telecommunications and media industries and has frequent dealings with the industry regulators. In addition to competition issues in the regulated industries, Wee Meng advises on non-sectoral competition law following the enactment of Singapore's Competition Act 2004.
Wee Meng has wide-ranging experience in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements relating to intellectual property, telecommunications networks and services, research and development, provision of services, contract manufacture, serialisation and distribution rights. Wee Meng also works with the Firm's Banking and Project Financing team and Take-overs, Mergers and Acquisitions team on transactions involving regulated entities.
Wee Meng began practice advising and representing clients on contentious matters and has extensive experience in patent and other intellectual property litigation, disputes involving turnkey systems, integrated circuits, software development, unauthorised access to computer systems and Internet related issues.
Wee Meng graduated with an LLB (Hons) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1996 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1997. He became a Partner in Allen & Gledhill in 2004.
