In a world where there is a growing emphasis on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, investors and other stakeholders increasingly expect companies to deliver more information about the financial and non-financial aspects of their businesses. In mid-2016, Singapore Exchange (SGX) introduced new rules requiring issuers to engage in sustainability reporting. This article provides a brief overview of the new sustainability reporting requirements and the potential challenges faced by companies as they navigate the waters of sustainability reporting.
