Competition Commission signs Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission

On 3 August 2023, the Malaysia Competition Commission (“MyCC”) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (“MCMC”) to strengthen collaborative efforts between the regulators in countering anti-competitive measures in the telecommunications sector.
MyCC and MCMC had in the past worked together to address, among other things, exclusivity arrangements between telecommunications service providers and property developers/joint management bodies of high rise residential buildings, and competition issues relating to e-commerce platforms and delivery partners.
