Yi-Ming has an active Singapore court and international commercial arbitration practice, and is regularly involved in high-value and legally significant disputes.  She has diverse experience including representing and advising on corporate governance, joint ventures, shareholder rights, equity and trusts. Yi-Ming also has a niche in intellectual property, confidential information / trade secrets, technology, and cryptocurrency disputes.

Yi-Ming is recommended by leading publications, including Legal 500 Asia Pacific (Dispute Resolution), WTR 1000 2025 (Enforcement and Litigation) and is named as a Future Star in Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific (Intellectual Property). She is described as “doggedly determined in her support”, “creative in her approach, and tireless in her efforts”.

Prior to private practice, Yi-Ming was a Justices’ Law Clerk to the Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Yi-Ming was also attached to Essex Court Chambers in London in 2017, where she worked with leading English barristers and King’s Counsel.

Yi-Ming has been a contributor to the Singapore Civil Procedure since 2017 and teaches the Part B preparatory course on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. She serves as an honorary legal advisor to the Singapore Bullion Market Association and is a member of the Football Association of Singapore’s Disciplinary Committee.

Yi-Ming graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with First Class Honours (LL.B.). 

Work Highlights

  • Acting in complex, high-value commercial disputes before the Singapore Courts and SICC, including for a US-headquartered private equity fund in proceedings concerning the shareholding and management of luxury resorts in the Maldives; an investor of one of South Korea's leading cryptocurrency exchanges concerning token issuance and misappropriation of over US$22 million in cryptocurrency; a listed oil and gas exploration and production company for conspiracy and economic wrongs; and a prominent Swiss art dealer in asset-freezing injunction and stay proceedings involving US$1 billion of assets and artworks.
  • Acting in international commercial arbitrations and enforcement proceedings, including for a PRC state-owned enterprise concerning breaches of a technology and trade secret licensing agreement, with claims exceeding US$500 million; a listed national service provider and its subsidiaries against a former C-suite executive concerning shareholdings valued at up to S$110 million; a global semiconductor manufacturer concerning the supply of components by a European manufacturing group; and a global health tech company concerning the issuance of employee-shareholder options to a C-suite executive.
  • Acting as amicus curiae in the Supreme Court regarding the sentencing framework for stalking under the Protection from Harassment Act.
  • Advising and representing listed companies and directors in Securities and Futures Act regulatory and criminal proceedings concerning listing disclosures and trading activities before the Singapore Courts and in SGX disciplinary proceedings.
  • Advising and representing clients on intellectual property, confidential information, and trade secrets matters, including a company and its directors in a landmark Court of Appeal decision on software copyright and breach of confidence; committal proceedings against a former manager for misappropriation of trade secrets; and a luxury retail mall in trademark and passing-off court proceedings concerning perfume and scent marks.
  • Represented SingHealth in the Committee of Inquiry convened to investigate Singapore’s largest cyberattack and ensuing data breach investigations.
