Zhao Jiawei is a Partner with Allen & Gledhill’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice. Jiawei’s area of practice include mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
Jiawei has experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and has acted for publicly listed entities, private entities and private equity firms across a variety of industries. He also advises regularly on domestic and cross-border joint ventures, schemes of arrangements and privatisations in Singapore.
Jiawei graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LL.B. (Hons) degree. During his time at Allen & Gledhill, Jiawei undertook a secondment as a Visiting Lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York.
Jiawei is fluent in English and Chinese.
Work Highlights
- Acted for Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation on its proposed US$7.8 billion joint venture with NXP Semiconductors N.V. to build a new 300mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Singapore.
- Acted for Mitsui & Co., Ltd in its approximately MYR8.4 billion acquisition of a stake in the capital of IHH Healthcare Berhad.
- Acted for Alibaba Group Holding Limited in its US$1.25 billion acquisition of a 50 per cent. stake in Perennial Shenton Holding Pte. Ltd., in relation to the redevelopment of AXA Tower, a 50-storey landmark Grade ‘A’ office development with a retail podium sited within Singapore’s Central Business District.
- Acted for Frasers Logistics & Industrial Asset Management Pte. Ltd., as manager of Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust, in the merger of Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust with Frasers Commercial Trust by way of a trust scheme.
- Acted for PCI Limited on the S$264.8 million acquisition of all shares in PCI Limited by Pagani Holding III Limited by way of a scheme of arrangement.
