Allen & Gledhill wins “Innovation in Digital Legal Practice” award at Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific Awards 2026
We are pleased to share that Allen & Gledhill has won the “Innovation in Digital Legal Practice” award for the development of our fully on-premise Gen AI solution, "A&GEL", at the prestigious Financial Times (FT) Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific Awards 2026.
The award was received by our Partner Tham Kok Leong, who played an instrumental role and led in the co-development of A&GEL together with seasoned AI technology company Pand.ai. A&GEL is a two-year project that was born out of and supervised by our Firm’s GenAI taskforce comprising our Managing Partner Jerry Koh, Kok Leong and Partner Dr Stanley Lai SC, and Darren Chan, who is the Head of our Firm's IS Department.
"We are grateful to the Financial Times for their recognition of our efforts in advancing legal technology. We believe legal technology, particularly GenAI, will greatly deepen the value we provide to our clients. This led to the development of A&GEL as part of our Firm's digital transformation efforts, enabling our lawyers to focus more on delivering commercially driven, strategic and client-centric advice. As the AI legal landscape continues to evolve, we believe that A&GEL is a crucial step forward to future-proofing our growth and strengthening the way we support clients in the years ahead.”, said Jerry Koh, Managing Partner of Allen & Gledhill.
Organised annually by FT and its research partner, RSGI, the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific Awards recognises law firms and in-house legal teams across the Asia-Pacific region for outstanding innovation, leadership, and impact.
In addition to the award, our Firm was featured in the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific Report 2026 as one of the Top 30 Most Innovative Law Firms in the region. We were also recognised as a Commended Firm in the “Innovation in Disputes” category for our representation of Kiri Industries in its decade-long shareholder dispute with DyStar Global Holdings, which was led by our Partner, Dinesh Dhillon. Kok Leong, who led the development of A&GEL, was also nominated for the Legal Intrapreneur award. Citations mentioned his active promotion of the A&GEL platform and training to A&G Asia lawyers and staff, focusing on demonstrating how to leverage A&GEL's comprehensive suite of knowledge worker tools and features while spearheading A&GEL’s preview phase with external organisations.
