Indonesia issues guidelines for granting of government assistance for purchase of two-wheeled battery-powered electric vehicles

On 21 March 2023, the Indonesia Ministry of Industry issued Regulation Number 6 of 2023 which provides guidelines for the provision of government assistance for the purchase of electric motorcycles. The 7 million rupiah government subsidy for the purchase of electric motorcycles seeks to increase the mass adoption of electric vehicles.
The implementation of the subsidy will be supported by an independent verification agency. To be eligible for the subsidy, the motorcycle must be registered and meet the “domestic component level” value requirement of at least 40%. This refers to the quantity of domestic components in a good or service.
