On 21 July 2025, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS”) announced fee revisions. Most of the fee revisions will take effect on 1 September 2025, with the remaining changes taking effect on 1 April 2026. The majority of fees remain unchanged. The key updates are set out below:

Patents

  • Increase in Singapore patent renewal fees from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in excess claim fees (currently S$40 for each claim in excess of 20 claims) to S$80 for each claim in excess of 15 claims when requesting examination (PF11 and PF12) from 1 September 2025
  • For examination requests (PF11 and PF12) filed on or after 1 September 2025, if claims are amended in response to Written Opinion (PF13A) from 1 April 2026, payment of excess claim fees (S$80 for each claim in excess of 15 claims) will be at the time of responding to the Written Opinion instead of at the time of paying the grant fee
  • Increase in examination review report fee (currently S$1,420) to S$2,150 from 1 September 2025, and to S$3,200 from 1 April 2026
  • Increase in Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) search and preliminary examination fees with IPOS as the International Searching / Preliminary Examining Authority from 1 September 2025

Trade marks

  • For specifications which are not fully adopted from the pre-approved database, increase in Singapore application fee (currently S$380 per class) to S$410 per class from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in Singapore renewal fee (currently S$440 per class) to S$480 per class from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in Singapore late renewal fee (currently S$645 per class) to S$700 per class from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in Singapore restoration fee (currently S$705 per class) to S$770 per class from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in amendment fee (currently S$40 per class) to S$50 per class from 1 September 2025, and to S$60 per class from 1 April 2026
  • Increase in fee to transform an international registration / subsequent designation under the Madrid Protocol to a Singapore national mark (currently S$380 per class) to S$410 per class from 1 September 2025
  • Increase in application and renewal fees relating to international registrations / subsequent designations under the Madrid Protocol designating Singapore

Registered designs

  • Increase in amendment fee (currently S$45) to S$60 from 1 September 2025

Plant varieties protection

  • Decrease in application fee (currently S$1,600) to S$750 from 1 September 2025

Hearings and mediation

  • Increase in extension of time fees from 1 September 2025

Copyright

  • Increase in fees for designation of representative to receive take-down notices from 1 September 2025

Cross-IP

  • Increase in extension of time fees for trade marks, registered designs and geographical indications from 1 September 2025
