SIAC broadens international arbitration cooperation through MOUs with institutions in Bhutan, Brazil, and China

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (“MOUs”) with the following institutions to promote international arbitration as an effective method of dispute resolution for resolving international disputes:

  • Bhutan - Bhutan ADR Centre (“BADRC”): Under the MOU signed on 26 August 2026, SIAC and BADRC will jointly organise in-person, hybrid, or virtual conferences, seminars, courses, and workshops on international arbitration in Singapore and Bhutan. They will also invite key members of their local arbitration communities to attend and participate in major events organised by SIAC in Bhutan or by BADRC in Singapore.
  • Brazil - Câmara de Mediação e Arbitragem da Fundação Getulio Vargas (“FGV Chamber”): SIAC and FGV Chamber, the arbitration and mediation chamber of the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, signed an MOU on 3 September 2026. The MOU provides that SIAC and FGV Chamber will jointly organise in-person, hybrid, or virtual conferences, seminars, courses, and workshops on international arbitration in Singapore and Brazil. They will also invite key members of their local arbitration community to attend and participate in major events organised by SIAC in Brazil or by FGV Chamber in Singapore. The MOU also provides for the use of FGV Chamber’s hearing facilities at preferential rates for SIAC arbitration hearings held in Brazil, and for SIAC to assist in securing priority booking of hearing facilities at Maxwell Chambers for FGV Chamber’s arbitration hearings held in Singapore.
  • China - Nanjing Arbitration Commission and the Jiangsu Provincial Arbitration Association: Under MOUs signed with the Jiangsu Provincial Arbitration Association on 27 August 2026 and with the Nanjing Arbitration Commission on 28 August 2026, SIAC and the respective organisations will collaborate on marketing events, training programmes, and other areas of mutual interest.
