Allen & Gledhill Partners Adrian Ang and Alexander Yap authored the Generative AI in Singapore chapter in The Oxford Handbook of the Foundations and Regulation of Generative AI (2025), published by Oxford University Press.

A Singapore national AI strategy was released in 2019; this envisaged that by 2030 Singapore would develop and deploy scalable, impactful AI solutions, in key sectors of high value and relevance to residents and resident businesses. While the strategy predated transformer deep neural networks, implementing steps since then, including changes to copyright and data protection laws which have been enacted, and the end of a data centre moratorium, would position Singapore for future AI development and operations - in spite of legal risks which may arise from the publication of AI output, due to broad content regulation and new anti-fake news legislation.
