  • Attachment (Freezing) Orders - Overview: This practice note provides an overview on the Singapore law relating to the order of attachment issued by local courts to preserve the respondent’s assets until judgment can be enforced. It covers the grounds on which these orders are made, the type of assets that can be attached, the procedure for applying for an attachment order, and enforcement of attachment orders. It also covers the scope of attachment orders in relation to overseas assets and in support of foreign proceedings.
  • Pre-action Letters - Overview: This practice note provides an overview of the key issues to consider before issuing or responding to a pre-action letter in Singapore.
  • Recovery of Trade Debts - Overview: This practice note provides Singapore-specific information on the legal options available to a business creditor looking to recover a trade debt in a business-to-business context, including ordinary legal proceedings, special fast-track procedures (if any), insolvency proceedings, and amicable settlement opportunities.
  • Rules of Evidence (Civil Proceedings) - Overview: This practice note provides an overview of the rules governing disclosure and the admissibility of evidence in civil proceedings. It looks at the rules on the disclosure obligations of the parties, admissibility of evidence, witness evidence, the burden and standard of proof, as well as issues that arise in gathering cross-border evidence.
  • Service of Claim Documents - Overview: This practice note provides an overview of the framework for service of claim documents (in relation to domestic and foreign proceedings) in Singapore. It also explains the rules which determine how service of claim documents can be effected on a defendant domiciled in an overseas jurisdiction.
