Personal Data Protection Digest: Civil Proceedings Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012
Allen & Gledhill Partners Alexander Yap and Tay Yong Seng, and Senior Associates Ang Ann Liang and Brenda Soh, contributed “Civil Proceedings Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012” to the 2020 edition of the Personal Data Protection Digest, published by the Personal Data Protection Commission. The article examines how data protection laws are or may be enforced under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”), the key legislation governing data protection in Singapore. Knowledge of PDPA enforcement trends and practices allows organisations and individuals to more accurately evaluate risks from acts or omissions which may constitute a breach of the PDPA, and also assists them in seeking redress for breaches of the PDPA by third parties.
