Allen & Gledhill Partner Adrian Ang and Senior Associate Benjamin Samynathan contributed the 2025 update to the Regulation of Cryptoassets: Overview (Singapore) practice note for Practical Law. The practice note provides an overview of the regulatory framework for “cryptoassets” in Singapore. It details Singapore’s regulatory approach and examines the regulatory treatment of various “cryptoassets”, including digital payment tokens, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies, tokenised capital markets products, and tokenised bank liabilities. It also covers the regulation of related activities such as sales, trading, and custody, alongside anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism requirements. The practice note also explores Singapore’s initiatives to encourage startups and innovation, discusses emerging trends and challenges, and outlines proposed and recent regulatory changes.
