In the fourth quarter of 2019, there were wide-ranging antitrust developments in South-east Asia which included new regulations relating to mergers and partnerships in Indonesia, the introduction of rules on dawn raids, search and inspection in the Philippines, the publication of a set of protocols for enforcement of criminal and administrative cases in Thailand, and the issuance of a new decree on penalties for violations of Vietnam’s 2018 Law on Competition. Brunei was anticipating the coming into force of a provision in the Competition Order 2015 prohibiting anti-competitive agreements, which is now in effect as of 1 January 2020.
