Alyssa Tan
Counsel
Alyssa is a Counsel in the Construction & Engineering Practice. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2015.
Alyssa specialises in the area of construction law, and her practice extends to both contentious and non-contentious work in building, construction, engineering and infrastructure projects.
For Alyssa’s contentious work, she has acted as counsel for developers and contractors in arbitration, litigation and adjudication proceedings concerning disputes which range from residential and commercial buildings to engineering and infrastructure projects. Alyssa also regularly advises statutory bodies and government-linked entities on a variety of complex construction law issues. As for her non-contentious work, Alyssa’s portfolio includes advising on the allocation and management of development risks, and has been extensively involved in drafting and negotiating project documentation for a broad spectrum of development projects, including that of high-tech semi-conductor manufacturing facilities, data centres, pharmaceutical plants, nature and wildlife parks and waste management facilities.
Work Highlights
- Advised government and government-linked entities and private developers in relation to disputes arising out of infrastructure projects in Singapore.
- Advised a government agency on project structuring and documentation, including multi-package engineering, procurement and construction contracts in relation to the development of a S$9.5 billion public infrastructure facility for waste management.
- Advised Surbana Jurong on the project documentation in relation to the development of its global headquarters, campus and Centre of Excellence for Innovation with project value estimated at S$400 million.
- Advised a European semi-conductor manufacturer on the EPC documentation for the development of an integrated advanced high-tech manufacturing facility for the production of semi-conductor manufacturing equipment.
- Advised F&N Investments Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fraser and Neave, Limited on the establishment of its Myanmar joint venture company Emerald Brewery Myanmar Ltd and the engineering, procurement and construction development of its US$50 million greenfield brewery plant.
- Advised a consortium of developers on the project development in relation to the development of a mixed-use development through public-private partnership, which includes the development of residential and commercial components, in the Mandalay region of Myanmar, which includes the development of residential, hotel and commercial components.
- Advised Mandai Park Development on the project documentation relating to the rejuvenation of Mandai into an integrated nature and wildlife destination in Singapore.
- Advised on the project documentation in relation to a mega project involving the development, rejuvenation and upgrading of a major tourist attractions hub (including, a resort), as well as advising on contract and claims administration and other project-related issues.
