Melissa’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and international arbitration, including cross-border disputes.
Melissa has acted in complex banking claims, shareholder and trust disputes, and professional negligence matters. She has also advised statutory boards and regulatory agencies.
Prior to joining Allen & Gledhill, Melissa was a Justices’ Law Clerk and an Assistant Registrar at the Supreme Court of Singapore, where she was involved in the establishment of the Singapore International Commercial Court. She previously taught Principles of Property Law at the National University of Singapore and is a contributing author of Singapore Civil Procedure and Singapore Law – 50 Years in the Making.
Melissa graduated from the University of Cambridge with a B.A. (Hons) Law Degree (Double First Class) in 2009, and holds a B.C.L. (Distinction) from the University of Oxford and an LL.M. from Harvard University. She was called to the Singapore Bar in 2015.
- Acting for an insurance company in a dispute involving the fraudulent use of company assets in excess of US$150 million by the company’s directors.
- Acting in a dispute over the shares of a family company valued at over S$200 million involving novel issues of trust law.
