Tran Thi Phuong Thao is a Partner at Allen & Gledhill (Vietnam). Her areas of expertise include corporate and commercial, mergers and acquisitions and corporate real estate.

With over 17 years of legal experience in both external and in-house counsel roles, Thao has extensive experience advising companies over a wide range of industries including real estate, licensing and various other contentious and non-contentious matters. She has also advised on a number of deals including high profile M&A transactions and real estate investments, frequently involving novel issues of Vietnamese law.

Thao graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in 2006 and was called to the Ho Chi Minh Bar in 2009.

  • Assisted HPL Hotel & Resorts in its acquisition of The Nam Hai Resort, located in Quang Nam Province which is recently known as Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai.
  • Assisted a Chinese-invested real estate company in Vietnam in its acquisition of land lots in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City for development purposes.
  • Assisted Fraser Property in acquisition of shares in Q2-Thao Dien project.
  • Assisted Mapletree Logistics Trust entered in its acquisition of a warehouse in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park I, Binh Duong province from Unilever as well as in the leaseback transaction.
  • Assisted a Singaporean property developer in its sale of entire stakes in mixed-use commercial project in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Assisted a Singaporean property developer in reviewing legal issues of residential project located in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, working with their local partner on resolving and its sale of entire stakes in this project.
  • Assisted Mapletree in various matters relating to the development and sale/lease of units of One Verandah project in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Assisted a Korean property developer in various matters relating to the development of a residential project located in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Assisted a Hong Kong real estate private equity firms in various matters relating to industrial and commercial property projects in various cities and provinces.
  • Advised Vard Vung Tau Ltd, a Vietnamese subsidiary of Vard, on its purchase from Southern Petroleum Construction Joint Stock Company the land use right over a parcel of land having an estimated area of around two hectare and facilities attached to such land located in Dong Xuyen Industrial Park, Rach Dua Ward, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Vietnam.
  • Assisted a Singaporean investor in its acquisition of majority stake of a highrise residential building in Hanoi from one of the biggest local real estate developer.
