Navigating public policy

The growing market economies of South-east Asia have been accompanied by an evolving regulatory landscape. The ability to respond appropriately and stay ahead of policy and regulatory developments has become a required endeavour for many businesses.

We are the first law firm to launch a Public Policy practice group in Singapore, and our unique multi-disciplinary approach combining strategic thinking, economic analysis and legal counsel aims to provide our clients with representation and advice on a variety of public policy matters, from strategic thinking to regulatory changes, Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) issues, and overall government affairs management.

Network and experience

Several members of our Public Policy Practice have held senior appointments and advisory positions in governments, and have decades of experience working in and with different branches of government. The insights and perspectives gained as a result assist us greatly in advising on various regulatory initiatives, for instance, on developing avenues to reconcile or calibrate commercial prerogatives with public policy needs.

We have advised on managing public interest concerns and consultation on new regulations, and have structured potential legislative changes to minimise undue business restrictions. Our significant matters include advocating for the removal of trade and regulatory barriers, and engagement with appropriate statutory agencies.

Meeting needs and challenges

The challenges of keeping up with policy developments and the regulatory environment is faced by many businesses, including major corporations and financial institutions operating in the region. In particular, there is an increasing focus by governments, investors and corporates on ESG issues. Our team specialises in assisting our clients meet such challenges, with considered strategies, multifaceted approaches and innovative solutions.
